Why volunteer with us?

From February 2025 we will be using an App called Volunteero to engage with our volunteers. This can be downloaded onto a smartphone, tablet or computer. This will enable us to manage our volunteers more effectively and for volunteers to have control of their personal details.

We are delighted that you are thinking about joining us and becoming a volunteer for the consumer champion for health and social care in Bracknell Forest.

We use our influence to improve health and social care services for local people, to make sure that the views of local people are really listened to in decision making, service quality and delivery. Healthwatch is the body established to be that voice.

Volunteers are right at the heart of what we do. Volunteers are the face of Healthwatch Bracknell Forest in the local community and are key to the delivery of our ambitions.

Our volunteers, in general, tend to help us on particular projects, as and when we need additional support.

We currently have three roles for volunteers:

Strategic Advisory Group - this group sets our priorities and direction. Currently we are not recruiting for our Strategic Advisory Group, but you can express an interest and be held on a waiting list.

Authorised Representatives - these support us in our Enter and View visits and requires additional training and a DBS check. Currently we are not recruiting for Authorised Representatives; you can express an interest and be held on a waiting list.

Ambassadors – These are our eyes and ears in the community on behalf of Healthwatch Bracknell Forest and provide feedback to the team

We are happy to welcome new people to this role.

Who are we looking for? 

We are looking for people that can engage with local communities and listen to their views and help gather people’s experiences of using health and social care services from all communities in Bracknell Forest.  

• Being a positive ambassador for Healthwatch Bracknell Forest in the community.
• Receive information from Healthwatch to be shared in your community or workplace.  
• Help us to consult with local people through face-to-face, online or telephone surveys.  
• Assist with engagement  in communities such as libraries, community centres, shopping centres, hospitals, GP Surgeries, and dentists.  
• Contribute to Healthwatch projects, planning and overall delivery through the collection, recording, and feedback of information.   
• Attend any training relevant to your volunteer role.  
• An interest in health and social care is essential.
